More Fergus Highland Games

Here are some more shots of the Fergus Highland Games.  If you haven't been to one of these festivals before I totally recommend it.  What a fabulous time!

They actually had a cutout of Jamie and Claire from the Outlander books there.  I also took an innocent man and asked if he would be my Jamie!

A 15 man caber toss at the opening tattoo.

The 15th "man" to toss his caber, he did a great job.  He is looking at his mom here and she is telling him not to throw it yet but to wait.

One of the many pipe bands that were part of the Tattoo.

Another pipe band

One hawt guy in a kilt!

My friend with the Loch Ness Monster.

A super cute little 3 year old drummer in one of the pipe bands.

A reenactment of a fight amongst the Scottish and the British.

Thank you Fergus, we had such a great and memorable experience.

Who's Your Fangirl?

This past weekend I finally broke away from my family for a much deserved break.  It has taken me 5 years to finally stand up and declare some me time and do something just for myself.  There was no one there demanding my time, asking for drinks or snacks, asking what was for supper, or just spinning my brain in 17 different directions.

The simple reason I had to get away from it all?  Meet Diana Gabaldon!  Diana Gabaldon was coming to the Fergus Highland Games for a few readings and book signings.  So I told everyone dear that on this weekend I would be free and grabbed my friend and headed for the 7 hour drive to meet my favourite author of the Outlander series.

I am not even going to get into detail about how wonderful these books are or how they have influenced my life so much.  Diana Gabaldon was an absolute wonder to listen to and realize just how smart she actually is.  It is obvious that she takes a great deal of time and effort for each book, each paragraph and each sentence.  She knows everything about all 7 of her books and can answer any questions that you may have for her.

Opening Ceremonies

First day she was there talking.

This is my Fan Girl picture, I was so nervous and excited!

The end of a hard day at work.

The second day of talks.

It was such a pleasure to be at the Highland Games and to listen to Diana Gabaldon speak but to actually meet her just blew my mind.  It is something I will always remember and cherish.

1 Box + 2 Children = Unlimited Play

We bought a bbq this spring.  The box has been sitting on our porch ever since.  It's ok though because well, you know, it was folded nicely and put to the side, along with everything else.  So finally I got ticked off at the way our nice new porch was looking and took it upon myself to try and get it organized, well as organized as a porch under construction can be.

So that night I threw the box onto the yard and the next day the wee ones discovered it.  This is what they did.
