Ye Ol' Garage Comes Down

Today we started the day going over to my mom and dad's farm to help out with a calf.  The calf wasn't getting any milk from his momma and so we had to scrap off the teats so the milk could come out.  I know it sounds harsh but we have to look out for the baby too and it really just feels like pulling off a band-aid.  Don't worry, momma did get a good kick at us!

Then it was back to the homestead to take down the Ol' Garage!!  Yeah!! I love organizing and getting rid of junk!  Especially when it is my partners stuff because he is anything but organized and hates getting rid of anything.

So here are some pics of what we spent from 11 am until 7 pm doing.  Needless to say supper was just a quick fix, so we had some homemade poutine.

The tin came off first because we are planning on using that again.  Not sure what for yet, either a lean-too on my garden shed or maybe another chicken or turkey coop.

The wee ones each received a tractor ride.  Sadie is wearing a helmet because they spent most of the day on their bikes riding up and down the laneway.

Taking off the boards took a long time because there was a thousand nails in each board, apparently before the tin it was shingled.

One of the 'treasures' that was found in the garage (we actually called it a shed, the old shed).  The wee ones loved discovering a hornets nest and see what was inside.

The last of the garage, it's sort of sad to see a little piece of history being stripped away but if the buildings aren't kept up there is nothing that we can do about it.  They become unsafe and we were afraid the wee ones might get into it and it may have fallen.  As I'm writing this blog I also realize that I never did take a picture of the job done.  I'll tell you, it basically looks like a square of dirt in some long grass.  We couldn't totally clean it up though because some of the boards etc are still frozen into the ground, oh well, that will give me something to do another day.

I'm exhausted now, night!
