Tile Draining

We have one field on our farm that is always causing us problems.  The problem with it is that it is always wet.  We wait in the spring for it too dry out.  Usually the other fields start to dry and can be worked up, then planted and then after a couple days our 'wet' field is usually dry enough to work.  But of course their is rain and it usually rains a lot in the spring.  So we have MASSIVE problems trying to get on the field, the tractors sink, there is water lying on the field, etc.  So we finally made the decision to take out a loan and get the field tile drained.  It is not a terribly expensive project but with only one income everything is expensive!

We had a local Mennonite business do it for us.  They came for a little under 2 days and the field was completely done.  It was quick, good, and hopefully will do the trick.

  1. Colin's thinking of having them in too in the fall. He has a small backhoe, but this is a bit bigger job than he wants to attempt. Especially since his seed cleaning business is taking off so well. He doesn't have so much free time during the 'off' season as he did. We've got so much white clay that wet spots never seem to dry on time.

  2. Well Paula these guys did an amazing job and it was so quick, I couldn't believe it. I would definitely recommend them. Plus they were reasonably priced too.
