Momma Time

This year instead of dreading the long, dark winter months that belongs to Canada I decided to change my attitude and embrace the winter.  It has turned out surprisingly well.  The family goes skating together at our local rink every week and the wee ones are doing great with their skating now.  Seth doesn't even use the bar anymore!

I have been embracing momma time this winter with some cross-country ski time.  My partner took out the tractor and made some trails in our bush, not expecting anyone to use them more than once.  HA!  I LOVED IT!
Going out with friends is great because you get the exercise but you also get the laughs and the great conversation.  I honestly didn't think I would like going to the bush myself, thinking that I would get nervous being there by myself.  So one day I didn't have anyone to go with and I took the plunge and went and found that it was one of the most magical and peaceful experiences that I have had.  I loved being by myself with no cars, trucks or houses in sight.  Only the wind and trees whispering to me. (and my ever present body guard, our border collie)  I was feeling a little guilty when I first started going out to ski and leaving the wee ones with my partner but then I realized that it is good for this momma to get some alone time and it is good for them to spend time together without momma too.  There is only a couple more weeks of this winter wonderland and then spring will come and everything tends to get really busy so I am going to enjoy my winter wonderland while it lasts.

Only the strong survive.

New growth

You can do it!

My protector

Doesn't this look like a crying tree?

Hey, who is that old man of the woods?

A gentle reminder that we are not alone.

When I 'accidentally' went off the trail and had to climb a fence. The skiis came off!

This was actually taken as I was falling down on my bum!

A view from one of my falls (there are hills and sometimes the snow is sticky - really)

How can people not be inspired by the nature that is around them
